Retire an agent
When an agent's term ends, or its owner or operations retire it, the agent stops acting at once; every open obligation (scheduled payments, standing instructions, pending approvals, open cases, mailbox threads and child agents) is handed to a named recipient who accepts it, or cancelled with the owner's consent; its keys and tokens are revoked; its data is disposed of or archived, while records the law requires are kept; its account is closed or its balance moved to its owner; and a death certificate records when and why it ended and where everything went. A retired agent never acts again and its identity is never reused.
